Keyword-Based Text Removal

Enter the exact text strings you want to remove — names, account numbers, addresses, or any confidential phrases — one per line. The tool scans every page of the uploaded PDF for each keyword and overlays a colored box that permanently obscures the matched text in the output file. Multiple keywords can be processed in a single pass across all uploaded documents.

Regex Pattern Matching

Enable the regex option to match structured data patterns instead of literal strings. For example, use \d{3}-\d{2}-\d{4} to match US Social Security Number formats, or [A-Z0-9._%+-]+@[A-Z0-9.-]+\.[A-Z]{2,} to match email addresses. This is particularly useful for bulk-redacting formatted identifiers across large document sets where exact strings vary but the format is consistent.

Simple Redaction vs. PDF-to-Image

By default, the tool draws opaque rectangles over matched text. This covers the text visually but the original characters may still exist in the PDF's internal text layer — an advanced user could extract them. For maximum security, enable the Convert PDF to PDF-Image option. This rasterizes each page into a flat image, permanently destroying the underlying text data. The trade-off is increased file size and loss of text selectability. For documents that also need access control, combine redaction with password encryption.
